Who We Are
Westside Video is a completely independent video store in Santa Cruz, CA. We're open every day of the year, from 1 pm to 9 pm every day (except holidays). We proudly display the lowest consistent prices and the largest catalog of films in Santa Cruz County. We strive to give the best customer service while providing the best products available. We also really like to have fun, so we host lots of events in store and make a point of getting to know folks. After all, why wouldn't we want to hang out with you?
What We Do
- We rent out movies and games that you love (and the movies your teachers make you watch, too). We carry Blu-ray, DVDs, VHS tapes, and games for consoles.
- We sell VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays, console games, and digital copies of movies for your computers and game systems.
- We write movie reviews and pass on reviews from customers, so you can feel confident that you're picking the right movie for your mood and your crowd.
- We deliver movies and games to your house, dorm room, or office, so you don't have to worry about getting things in the mail on time or fitting a store visit into your busy day.
- We host events, like film screenings, live music, after-hours parties, and story time for kids. If you are a teacher, email admin@westside-video.com about having the films you assigned for class ordered to the store and screened for your students, all at no cost to you.
- We order movies you want to see if they're not already in our collection.
- We sell Westside Video merchandise, which is all designed and produced by us on the lowest impact materials we can find. We also produce tees and select other wares that YOU design.
- We repair the movies and games you love. We professionally buff and repair Blu-ray discs, DVDs, CDs, and any similarly-sized video game discs for any system.

What We Charge
Our prices are displayed all over 'cause we're proud of how low they are. If you have a pricing concern or suggestion, please let us know! Prices include tax unless otherwise noted.
New Release 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD titles: $4.00 for 5 nights
Old Release 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD titles: $3.00 for 7 nights
VHS Tapes: $1.50 for 7 nights
New Release Video Games: $6.50 for 5 nights
Older Video Titles: $5.50 for 7 nights
We also run lots of specials to get you even better deals. Deals like Dollar Days and Rent One Get One Free revolve, so nobody's work or school schedule will keep them from getting the good stuff. The Everyday Special is, just like it sounds, available every single day. Enjoy!
The 456 Deal
Rent 4 older DVD titles (or mix and match with a tape or two), and you get them for 5 nights at only $6.99 & tax total.
The Indecision Special
Don't know what you want to rent? We'll choose 5 titles for you! We spend some time custom fitting our suggestions to your taste, and you certainly get your money's worth. 5 VHS tapes are $3.50 & tax; 5 DVDs are $4.50 & tax, and all rentals are for 5 nights.
The Yuma Special
If you're having a new release marathon, get three of 'em, 'cause the fourth is on us!

House Rules
We know, we know. Rules. Ugh! But, these rules are pretty straightforward, to keep everybody happy!
- Everything rented on your account is your responsibility. All rentals should be returned in the same condition in which they were rented out.
- Your ID and payment information must be current on your account.
- If you add people to your account, you are ultimately responsible for any fees they may incur.
- You must be aged 18 years or more to open an account, as your account is a legally binding contract.
- If a parent/guardian has added a person under the age of 18 to their account, that guardian must authorize any rentals rated R. NC-17 and X films will not be rented to minors, period.
- If you lose a rental, or that rental becomes broken beyond repair while in your care, you are responsible for replacing that rental. We will find you the lowest cost option! We recommend not allowing children or anyone not familiar with how discs and disc readers work to handle rentals.
- You have to pay your rental extensions. We do late fee reductions every single dingle day, but in the end, we lose money on every title not in stock for the next customer. We are not boosting our bottom line from late fees! You paying for extending your rentals simply allows us to (hopefully) break even on titles that we could have rented out again.
- You must be on an account to rent. Please carry your government-issued ID with you so we can verify account ownership. Using an account that doesn't belong to you is fraud.
- There is sales tax on rentals, non-food merchandise, and extended rental fees. We don't get to keep that, and have no more control over what the sales tax percentage is than any other voters.
- If a rental is unable to play on your hardware, we apologize! We work tirelessly every day to make sure all our titles are in the best possible condition. If a disc is scratched, we'll fix it! We will exchange any rental that doesn't work for you due to compatibility issues, picture/sound quality, or readability for another copy of that film or game. There are NO cash refunds. If you decide on a different title within half an hour of renting the first one, just let the clerk know so they can do a switcheroo.
